Jeff Strange joined the Westlake Staff in January of 2009.
A 2004 graduate of Westlake High School, Jeff first discovered technical theatre as a freshman and has been heavily involved since. He served as the president of the Technical Entertainment Crew as a senior and was a member of the first two Chaparral Stadium Video Crews. Mr. Strange traveled to Ithaca, New York after high school to pursue a degree in Theatrical Production from Ithaca College. There he specialized in Sound Technology, Sound Design, Lighting Technology, and Lighting Design. His senior projects included a theatrical sound design and a research project into Ethernet control systems for entertainment. During this time he interned as a camera operator at KEYE in Austin, and served as a Sound Technican/Designer at Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts. After graduating from Ithaca College, Jeff returned to Austin taking the position of Assistant Technical Director at The Long Center for the Performing Arts. His primary responsibilities included implementing the lighting, sound, and video technology into the two theatres at The Long Center. He later supervised the Rollins Studio Theatre, helping local theatre and performing arts groups make the best use of the space. As a staff member at Eanes, Mr. Strange spends half of each workday helping to keep the Westlake Community Performing Arts Center operational. This includes maintenance and improvements to the lighting, sound, and video systems within the facility. The rest of the day is spent teaching Technical Theatre students and directing the Chaparral Stadium Video Crew project. |
